Conducting A Newspaper Article Search

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Information is free online from a lot of great sources. You can find news from the world and close to home almost anywhere. Some still read the paper each morning, but then log online for even more. Some don’t bother with the paper, but go with the electronic versions. Whatever the case, news is free and easy to come by. There may be times however, when you want to find an old story. When that happens, you have to do a newspaper article search.

There are many reasons why you may be thinking that you want to do a newspaper article search. You may have seen a story, but then thought nothing of it until later. When it comes up again, you may realize that it has more of an impact on your life than you thought. This can be because it has a huge local impact in your area, or because suddenly someone you know has become a huge part of the story. Those are two very common reasons why some do newspaper articles searches, but there are plenty more. Many are for personal reasons.

If you are going to buy a house that is very old, you may want to do a newspaper article search to see if you can find out something about the history of the house, especially if the asking price is very low in comparison to what it should be worth. You can find information through a historical society at times, but they may not have all of the information that you could find through a newspaper article search. This can also alert you to problems with land, schools, and even organizations in your community.

I didn’t really want to be a police officer, but private investigation training seemed right up my alley. I knew it would give me the chance to see what I thought of law enforcement without enrolling in a full-time police academy.
